Michael Phillips joined Tiffany Lathe LLP in March 2008. His areas of practice include Indigenous Law, Civil Litigation, Workplace Harassment, Employment Law, and Labour Relations.
Michael has dedicated many years to supporting community development initiatives across Canada. He previously served as a board member for Northern Community Outreach Services, a non-profit organization focused on assisting seniors and vulnerable families in Alberta. He has also facilitated business and legal education seminars through the Calgary Entrepreneur Development Centre, helping startups and small business owners better understand corporate and employment regulations.
In recent years, Michael has presented lectures and workshops on Workplace Harassment, Employment Standards, and Labour Relations for educational institutions, public agencies, and private organizations in cities including Calgary, Winnipeg, and Halifax.
During his time at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Michael played a key role in developing a community legal assistance initiative designed to help individuals navigate Small Claims Court procedures. He later continued similar volunteer legal advocacy work while participating in an international legal exchange program in Vancouver, where he assisted underserved communities through local legal clinics.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2006 after completing an honours degree in Political Science at University of Calgary in 2001. He is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Law Society of Ontario.
